Established at St. Thomas Mission Hospital campus, Kattanam — fulfilling the vision of the Most Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan of the Mar Thoma Church.
Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Research was established in 2015 under the aegis of Mar Thoma Medical Mission (Society). A 15-member Hospital Administration Committee headed by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Theodosios Mar Thoma Metropolitan and chaired by Rt. Rev. Mathews Mar Seraphim Episcopa of Adoor diocese oversees the administration of the college. A seven-member College Governing Committee chaired by Rev. Jacob George C, Administrator, oversees the day-to-day administration of the college.
The college offers a 4-year Bachelor of Pharmacy under the affiliation of Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur, and approval of the Pharmacy Council of India. The institution also offers a 2-year Diploma programme affiliated to the Directorate of Medical Education, Thiruvananthapuram. There are over 300 students currently studying in the college across both programmes.
The curriculum follows a choice-based credit system. The teaching fraternity takes utmost care to impart liberal, holistic, all-round education that fosters critical thinking and interdisciplinarity, focusing on individualized and transformative learning. Over the first decade of its existence, five batches have successfully graduated from the college.
