Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research is a professional institution owned and managed by Mar Thoma Medical Mission of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church which is a registered society (Reg no 7/1971) under The Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act XII of 1955.
The Chairman of the society is the Mar Thoma Metropolitan Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan.
The Patron of the St. Thomas mission hospital and Institutions is Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan and the Chairman is Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulos Episcopa.
The institute is established within the St Thomas mission Hospital campus. St. Thomas Mission Hospital is a 300 beds multispecialty hospital established in 1948 by Most Rev. Dr. Yuhannon Mar Thoma Metropolitan.
It has well established departments like General Medicine, Diabetology, Cardiology, General Surgery, Ophthalmology Orthopaedics, Gynaecology and obstetrics, Pediatrics, Gastroenterology, ENT, Nephrology, Urology, Anesthesiology, Ortho Dental Surgery, Radiology, Pathology, Psychiatry, Physiotherapy, Pain & Palliative, De-addiction.
It has 24 Hours working casualty, Laboratory, Pharmacy, X-ray, Dialysis, Operation Theatre, Blood Storage Unit, C-T Scan, U.S Scan, Mortuary & Ambulance Service. The hospital is having a well known ophthalmology centre and dialysis centre with ultra modern equipments.
The hospital is equipped with a central pharmacy having drug information and patient counseling centers. The graduate pharmacy students of this institution will get in house training in hospital and clinical pharmacy in the hospital pharmacy during their course of study which will be helpful for the graduates to get employment in hospital pharmacy services in India or abroad.
The College is approved by the All India Council of Technical Education, Pharmacy Council of India& Government of Kerala. The College is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur.
